Product Specific Information
- In direct ELISAs and Western blots, approximately 50% cross-reactivity with recombinant mouse (rm) Serpin F2 is observed.
- Less than 1% cross-reactivity with recombinant human Serpin A1, A3, A4, A5, and mouse Serpin C1, D1 is observed.
- Reconstitute at 0.2 mg/mL in sterile PBS.
Target Information
This gene encodes a member of the serpin family of serine protease inhibitors. The protein is a major inhibitor of plasmin, which degrades fibrin and various other proteins. Consequently, the proper function of this gene plays a major role in regulating the blood clotting pathway.
Mutations in this gene result in alpha-2-plasmin inhibitor deficiency, characterized by severe hemorrhagic diathesis.
Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
