Target Information
This monoclonal antibody specifically recognizes human estrogen receptor beta 5 (ERB5), a splice variant of the nuclear receptor hormone ER beta (ESR2), which exists in at least five isoforms (ERB1–ERB5). No cross-reactivity is observed with estrogen receptor beta 1 or 2 isoforms.
The encoded protein is part of the estrogen receptor family and the nuclear receptor transcription factor superfamily. It contains N-terminal DNA binding and C-terminal ligand binding domains, localized to the nucleus, cytoplasm, and mitochondria. Upon binding to 17β-estradiol or related ligands, the protein forms homo- or heterodimers that interact with specific DNA sequences to activate transcription. Some isoforms can dominantly inhibit other estrogen receptor family members.
