Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of p70 S6 Kinase only when phosphorylated at Threonine 389/412.
Target Information
RPS6KB1 (p70S6K) is a serine/threonine kinase with two non-identical catalytic domains that phosphorylates several residues of the S6 ribosomal protein. It is predominantly localized in the cytoplasm and plays a critical role in growth factor–regulated cell proliferation, cell motility, immune response, and tissue repair pathways. Acting downstream of phosphoinositide (PI) 3-kinase, its main physiological target is the S6 ribosomal protein, which regulates protein synthesis. Increased kinase activity of p70 S6 kinase promotes protein synthesis and cell proliferation, and amplification or overexpression of its gene is observed in certain breast cancer cell lines.
