Target Information
Adipose tissue regulates metabolism and immunity by secreting adipokines. The C1q/tumor necrosis factor-alpha-related proteins (CTRPs 1–7) are structural and functional paralogs of adiponectin. Unlike adiponectin, CTRPs are expressed in various tissues and act mainly on liver and muscle to control glucose and lipid metabolism. CTRP5 is suggested to be involved in age-related macular degeneration.
