Product Specific Information
A 1:1,000 dilution of MA5-45807 was sufficient for detection of Malondialdehyde in 2 µg of Malondialdehyde conjugated to BSA by ECL immunoblot analysis using Goat Anti-Mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody.
Specific for Malondialdehyde conjugated proteins. Does not detect free Malondialdehyde.
No cross-reactivity with Acrolein, Crotonaldehyde, Hexanoyl Lysine, 4-Hydroxy-2-hexenal, 4-Hydroxy nonenal, or Methylglyoxal modified proteins.
Target Information
Malondialdehyde (CH₂(CHO)₂) is an organic compound and a byproduct of lipid metabolism. It is a reactive electrophile species that causes cellular stress and forms covalent protein adducts known as advanced lipoxidation end products (ALE).
Malondialdehyde also forms mutagenic DNA adducts when reacting with deoxyadenosine and deoxyguanosine in DNA. It is found in many foods, especially in rancid ones.
