Product Specific Information

Antibody detects endogenous levels of JAK3 only when phosphorylated at Tyr904.

Target Information

Janus kinase 3 (JAK3) phosphorylates members of the STAT (signal transduction and activators of transcription) family. JAK3 is predominantly expressed in immune cells and mediates signaling in response to activation of interleukin receptors. Upon stimulation by cytokines or related factors (e.g., interferons, interleukins), JAKs are activated via phosphorylation at adjacent tyrosine residues. Activated JAKs phosphorylate STAT proteins, which then dimerize and translocate to the nucleus to regulate transcription of numerous genes, including interferon-stimulated genes. JAK2 is essential for IFN gamma-receptor complex initiation, while JAK1 acts as an amplifier. Some studies suggest that Tyk2 and JAK3 may substitute for JAK2 if positioned appropriately within the receptor complex.
