The Human Cystatin C Simplex ProcartaPlex™ Kit measures cystatin C protein and can be combined with other Simplex kits to create custom multiplex panels utilizing Luminex™ xMAP technology for protein detection and quantitation. When combining multiple Simplex kits, only one buffer kit (sold separately) is needed per assay plate regardless of plex size.

About ProcartaPlex Assays for the Luminex Platform

ProcartaPlex immunoassays are based on the sandwich ELISA principle, using two highly specific antibodies that bind to different epitopes of a single protein, allowing simultaneous quantitation of multiple targets using a Luminex instrument.

ProcartaPlex assays utilize Luminex xMAP (multianalyte profiling) technology for simultaneous detection and quantitation of up to 80 protein targets from plasma, serum, cell culture supernatants, and other bodily fluids.

In the ProcartaPlex assay, Luminex beads are internally dyed with precise proportions of red and infrared fluorophores, creating spectrally unique signatures identifiable by Luminex detection systems (e.g., Luminex 200, FLEXMAP 3D, MAGPIX). Matched antibody pairs identify the target protein, and bound proteins are detected with biotinylated antibodies and streptavidin–R-phycoerythrin (RPE).

Unlike traditional ELISA, the capture antibody in ProcartaPlex assays is conjugated to a bead rather than adsorbed to a microplate well, allowing reagents to remain in solution. The Luminex instrument uses two lasers—one to identify bead signatures and another to quantify RPE fluorescence proportional to protein concentration.

ProcartaPlex multiplex assays can profile more target proteins using significantly less sample in the same time required for a traditional sandwich ELISA. Multiplex panels are available across six species: human, mouse, rat, nonhuman primate, porcine, and canine.
