- In direct ELISAs and Western blots, approximately 50% cross-reactivity with recombinant human IL-6, recombinant porcine IL-6, and recombinant canine IL-6 is observed.
- Approximately 20% cross-reactivity with recombinant mouse IL-6 and recombinant rat IL-6.
- Reconstitute at 0.2 mg/mL in sterile PBS.
- Endotoxin level is <0.10 EU per 1 µg of the antibody by the LAL method.
Target Information
Interleukin-6 (IL-6) encodes a cytokine involved in inflammation and B cell maturation. The IL-6 protein acts as an endogenous pyrogen, inducing fever in autoimmune diseases or infections. It is primarily expressed at sites of acute and chronic inflammation, secreted into serum, and induces inflammatory gene transcription via the IL-6 receptor alpha.
IL-6 function is implicated in various inflammation-associated diseases, including susceptibility to diabetes mellitus and systemic juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. Elevated IL-6 levels have been reported in viral infections such as COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2 infection). Diseases associated with IL-6 include Kaposi Sarcoma and Systemic Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis.
