Product Specific Information

Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
This antibody is predicted to have broad species reactivity.

Target Information

SUMO2 is a member of the SUMO (small ubiquitin-like modifier) protein family. This family functions similarly to ubiquitin, binding to target proteins as part of a post-translational modification system.
Unlike ubiquitin, which targets proteins for degradation, SUMO2 is involved in cellular processes such as nuclear transport, transcriptional regulation, apoptosis, and protein stability.
In vertebrates, three SUMO family members are described: SUMO1 and the homologues SUMO2 and SUMO3. SUMO2/3 modification sites in their N-terminal regions are utilized by SAE1/SAE2 (SUMO E1) and Ubc9 (SUMO E2) to form polymeric SUMO chains on substrates—a property not shared by SUMO1.
