Product Specific Information
This product is preservative-free. It is recommended to add sodium azide to avoid contamination (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%).
Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. These systems are developed by cloning specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production.
Advantages of recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies:
- Better specificity and sensitivity
- Lot-to-lot consistency
- Animal origin-free formulations
- Broader immunoreactivity due to larger rabbit immune repertoire
This antibody has specificity for Human IkB alpha/NFKBIA.
Target Information
IkB-alpha is a 40 kDa protein that inhibits NF-kappaB activity through protein-protein interactions in the cytosol. Interaction with NF-kappaB masks its nuclear localization sequence, preventing translocation to the nucleus. Various stimuli such as TNF-alpha, IL-1 beta, chemokines, PMA, growth factors, LPS, UV irradiation, viral infection, and other stresses can activate NF-kappaB by inducing IkB-alpha degradation.
In humans, the IkB-alpha gene is located on chromosome 14q. Activation of NFkB requires phosphorylation of IkB on serine residues (Ser32 and Ser36) by IkB kinase alpha (IKK alpha), leading to its degradation. IKK alpha, along with IKK beta and IKK gamma, forms the IKK complex essential for NFkB activation.
