Product Specific Information

This antibody is specific for Human Platelet Factors X and Xa in the presence of 5–10 mM CaCl₂.

Target Information

Factor X undergoes multiple processing steps before its preproprotein is converted to a mature two-chain form by excision of the tripeptide RKR. The two chains are held together by disulfide bonds; the light chain contains two EGF-like domains, while the heavy chain contains the catalytic domain homologous to other hemostatic serine proteases. The mature factor is activated by cleavage of the activation peptide by factor IXa (intrinsic pathway) or factor VIIa (extrinsic pathway). Activated Factor X converts prothrombin to thrombin in the presence of factor Va, Ca²⁺, and phospholipid during blood clotting. Mutations can lead to Factor X deficiency, a hemorrhagic condition of variable severity.
