MA5-17645 targets Protein C/APC in ELISA and WB applications and shows reactivity with Human samples.
The immunogen used is human Protein C purified from the supernatant of thrombin activated platelets.

Target Information

Protein C is a vitamin K-dependent plasma glycoprotein that is cleaved to its activated form by the thrombin-thrombomodulin complex. The activated form contains a serine protease domain and functions in degradation of activated coagulation factors V and VIII.
Protein C is produced in the liver and composed of two polypeptide chains. The 62 kDa proenzyme is activated by thrombin bound to endothelial receptors, forming a 55 kDa active enzyme that cleaves factor Va and VIIIa, inhibiting coagulation.
Normal human plasma concentrations are approximately 1–3 ng/mL for the active enzyme and 3 µg/mL for the proenzyme.
Mutations in the Protein C gene are associated with thrombophilia due to protein C deficiency, neonatal purpura fulminans, and recurrent venous thrombosis.
