Target Information
The superfamily of high molecular weight serine proteinase inhibitors includes Protease inhibitor-8 (PI8; SERPINB8), a member of the ov-serpin subfamily.
Compared to the archetypal serpin PI1 (MIM 107400), SERPINB8 shows a high degree of homology to chicken ovalbumin, lacks N- and C-terminal extensions, does not have a signal peptide, and contains a serine residue at the penultimate position instead of asparagine.
