Target Information
The nuclear pore complex is a large structure that spans the nuclear envelope, regulating the exchange of macromolecules between the nucleus and cytoplasm. Nucleoporins, including NUP50, are essential components of this complex. NUP50 is an FG-repeat containing nucleoporin that acts as a soluble cofactor in importin-α:β–mediated nuclear protein import. Pseudogenes are located on chromosomes 5, 6, and 14. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
