이 항체는 calyculin A로 처리된 mouse J774A.1 세포의 SDS-PAGE 면역블롯에서 인산화된 Bad의 23 kDa 이중 밴드를 검출합니다. Lambda phosphatase 처리 후에는 해당 반응성이 사라집니다.

BAD 단백질은 BCL-2 패밀리에 속하며, 프로그램된 세포사멸(apoptosis)의 조절자로 알려져 있습니다. BAD는 BCL-xL 및 BCL-2와 이합체를 형성하여 세포사멸 억제 단백질의 기능을 억제함으로써 세포사멸을 촉진합니다. 이 단백질의 친사멸 기능은 인산화에 의해 조절되며, AKT, MAP kinase, calcineurin 등이 관련되어 있습니다. 이 유전자는 두 개의 전사 변이체를 가지며, 동일한 단백질 아이소폼을 암호화합니다.
