Product Specific Information

• Reconstitute with 1 mL of distilled water.
• After reconstitution, store undiluted at 4°C in the dark.
• For FACS analysis, use 10 µL of the suggested working dilution to label 1×10⁶ cells in 100 µL.
• Mouse anti-Rat CD8α, clone MRC OX-8, recognizes the rat CD8 alpha cell surface antigen expressed by a subset of T lymphocytes, most thymocytes, and the majority of NK cells.

Target Information

Cluster of differentiation 8 (CD8) is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein of the immunoglobulin receptor family that plays a key role in T cell signal transduction, differentiation, and activation.
CD8 is primarily expressed on T cells as a disulfide-linked heterodimer (CD8α/CD8β) functioning as a co-receptor with T cell receptor (TCR) for MHC class I molecules.
CD8α is essential for MHC-I binding and is also expressed on NK cells, monocytes, and dendritic cells as CD8α homodimers.
Upon MHC-I/peptide ligation, Lck kinase is recruited, leading to lymphokine production, motility, and cytotoxic T lymphocyte activation.
Activated CTLs are vital for pathogen and tumor cell clearance. Differentiation of naive CD8⁺ T cells into CTLs is enhanced by IL-2, IL-12, and TGF-β1.
