Target Information

ABCC5 (MRP5) is a member of the ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter superfamily, which mediates the transport of various molecules across cellular membranes.
This protein belongs to the MRP subfamily associated with multidrug resistance and functions in the cellular export of cyclic nucleotides.
It contributes to the degradation of phosphodiesterases and may play a role in the elimination of cyclic nucleotides.
ABCC5 confers resistance to thiopurine anticancer drugs (6-mercaptopurine and thioguanine) and the anti-HIV drug 9-(2-phosphonylmethoxyethyl)adenine.
It may be involved in resistance mechanisms in acute lymphoblastic leukemia and HIV-infected patients.
Alternative splicing has been observed, though the complete sequence and translation initiation site remain unclear.
