Product Specific Information

Specificity: Human IL23A and Human IL12B Heterodimer.
This product is a chimeric monoclonal antibody combining the constant domains of the human IgG1 molecule with mouse variable regions. The antibody was produced using recombinant antibody technology.

Target Information

IL-23 is a heterodimeric cytokine composed of the p40 subunit of IL-12 disulfide-linked with a protein p19. The p19 subunit, similar to p35 of IL-12, is biologically inactive by itself.
IL-23 interacts with IL-12Rβ1 and a novel β2-like receptor subunit with a STAT4 binding domain, termed IL-23R. IL-23 is secreted by activated mouse and human dendritic cells.

Biological activities of mouse IL-23 differ from those of IL-12:

  • Mouse IL-23 does not induce significant IFN-γ production.
  • It induces strong proliferation of memory T cells (but not naive T cells).
  • IL-23 (but not IL-12) activates mouse memory T cells to produce IL-17.

Human IL-23 shows overlapping but distinct activity from human IL-12:

  • Induces proliferation of memory T cells.
  • Induces moderate IFN-γ production by naive and memory T cells compared to IL-12.
