This KJ16-133 monoclonal antibody recognizes mouse T cell receptors (TCR) containing Vβ8.1 or 8.2, expressed by approximately 15–20% of peripheral T cells in most mouse strains (e.g., Balb/c, AKR, C57BL/6, B10.A) and several T cell hybridomas (e.g., DO-11.10, 3DT-52.5, D1G10G11, SKK-9.11, SKK-45.10, MDK16, S18.4).

Target Information
T cell receptors (TCR) discriminate between self and foreign peptides presented by MHC class II molecules, a critical process for adaptive immunity. Recognition of self-peptides is linked to autoimmune diseases, while mutant self-peptides are associated with tumors. Superantigen engagement of TCRs can cause toxic shock syndrome. Autoantibodies to TCR Vβ segments have been found in rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus, potentially modulating immune responses. Most human T cells express TCR αβ with CD4 or CD8, while a minority are double-negative (DN), which can increase in autoimmune or immunodeficiency conditions. γδ T cells, mainly in epithelia, show limited diversity and distinct antigen recognition, with reported antitumor and immunoregulatory roles.
