S100 단백질은 calmodulin 및 troponin C와 같은 칼슘 결합 단백질 계열에 속합니다.
S100A는 알파 및 베타 사슬로 구성되어 있으며, S100B는 두 개의 베타 사슬로 구성되어 있습니다.
S100 단백질은 피부의 Langerhans 세포 및 림프절의 interdigitating reticulum 세포 등 항원 제시 세포에서도 발현됩니다.
