Target Information
3’,5’-cyclic nucleotides cAMP and cGMP act as second messengers in numerous signal transduction pathways. 3’,5’-cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterases (PDEs) hydrolyze cAMP and cGMP to their corresponding 5’-monophosphates, providing a mechanism for downregulation of cyclic nucleotide signaling. The PDE11A gene encodes a member of the PDE protein superfamily. Mutations in this gene have been associated with Cushing disease and adrenocortical hyperplasia. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms are known.
