SLC7A8은 나트륨 비의존적이며, 큰 중성 아미노산의 고친화성 수송체입니다.
LAT1보다 L-phenylalanine에 높은 친화성을 가지며, glutamine과 serine에 낮은 친화성을 보입니다.
생리학적 농도에서 L-alanine을 수송하며, 중성 아미노산의 basolateral (재)흡수에 관여합니다.
