Product Specific Information

For reconstitution, add 100 µL of distilled water to obtain a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, perform an additional desalting step using Zeba Spin Desalting Columns (7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).

Target Information

Mannose (or mannan)-binding lectin (MBL), also known as serum mannose-binding protein (MBP), initiates the lectin branch of the innate immune response by binding to the surface of pathogenic microorganisms and triggering complement fixation through its N-terminal collagen-like domain.
MBL can directly neutralize invading microorganisms via an antibody-independent mechanism. Mutations in human MBL are linked to immunodeficiency due to reduced complement activation ability.

Three types of MBL-associated serine proteases—MASP-1, MASP-2, and MASP-3—as well as a truncated form of MASP-2 (sMAP or MAp19), complex with MBL to activate the lectin pathway of the complement system. Activated MASPs cleave and activate downstream complement components. MASP-3, an alternatively spliced product of the MASP-1 gene, may inhibit MASP-2 by competing for MBL binding and preventing MASP-2 activation.
