Product Specific Information

For reconstitution, add 100 µL distilled water to achieve a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments using this carrier-free antibody, perform an additional desalting step (recommended: Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).

Target Information

Mannose (or mannan)-binding lectin (MBL), also known as serum mannose-binding protein (MBP), initiates the lectin branch of the innate immune response by binding to microbial surfaces and triggering complement fixation via an N-terminal collagen-like domain.
MBL is crucial for immune defense, directly neutralizing pathogens through antibody-independent mechanisms. Mutations in human MBL can lead to immunodeficiency due to impaired complement activation.
In humans, MASP-1, MASP-2, MASP-3, and a truncated MASP-2 form (sMAP or MAp19) form complexes with MBL to activate the lectin pathway. Activated MASPs subsequently cleave and activate downstream complement components. MASP-3, an alternatively spliced product of MASP-1, may inhibit MASP-2 by competing for MBL binding.
