For reconstitution, add 100 µL distilled water to obtain a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, perform an additional desalting step (Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).

Target Information

STAT4 was originally identified using degenerate primers complementary to conserved regions of other STAT proteins. It shares high similarity with STAT1 (52%) and STAT3 (47%). STAT4 can be tyrosine phosphorylated by Jak1 or Jak2, forming homo- or heterodimers with other STAT family members. Phosphorylated STAT4 binds to the IFN-gamma activated site (GAS), and serine phosphorylation is required for maximal transcriptional activity.

STAT4 expression is mainly observed in the thymus, spleen, and testis. It is activated by interleukin 12 (IL-12), which is essential for T-cell independent induction of IFN-gamma and Th1 cell development. STAT4-deficient mice show impaired IL-12-mediated Th1 differentiation and enhanced Th2 development. Additionally, IFN-α/β activation of STAT4 is required for IFN-γ production in response to viral infection.
