Product Specific Information

This antibody detects endogenous levels of c-Myc only when phosphorylated at Serine 62.

Target Information

The c-Myc protein is a 62 kDa transcription factor encoded by the c-Myc gene on human chromosome 8q24. It is commonly activated in various tumor cells and plays a key role in cellular proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, and cell cycle progression.
Phosphorylation at Thr58/Ser62 by kinases such as GSK3, CDK, ERK2, and JNK is functionally linked to cell proliferation and regulation.
c-Myc is essential for vasculogenesis and angiogenesis in tumor development. Deregulated expression of c-Myc induces apoptosis and contributes to oncogenesis in multiple tissues.
Amplification or translocation of the c-Myc gene is associated with numerous cancers, including lung, breast, colon carcinomas, and Burkitt’s lymphoma.
