Product Specific Information

  • Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature (RT).
  • For formalin-fixed tissues, heat tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 min at 95°C, then cool at RT for 20 min.

Target Information

Alpha-1-Antitrypsin (Alpha-1-AT) is synthesized in the liver and acts as an inhibitor of proteases such as trypsin, elastase, chymotrypsin, collagenase, leucocytic proteases, plasmin, and thrombin released during inflammatory reactions in the lung.
Deficiency of Alpha-1-AT is associated with chronic obstructive lung disease (emphysema) and, less frequently, hepatic cirrhosis in infants and respiratory distress of the newborn.
Increased Alpha-1-AT levels occur as an acute-phase response to tissue necrosis and inflammation. Serum levels are elevated in rheumatoid arthritis, bacterial infections, vasculitis, and carcinomatosis.
