Despite its predicted molecular weight, Aven often migrates at 55 kDa in SDS-PAGE.
A suggested positive control is Raji cell lysate.
PA5-20287 can be used with blocking peptide PEP-0405.
Target Information
Apoptosis plays a major role in organism development, tissue homeostasis, and removal of damaged cells. Disruption of apoptosis has been implicated in various diseases such as cancer.
Aven is a protein that blocks apoptosis induced by Apaf-1 and caspase-9. It is thought to function by binding to Bcl-xL and Apaf-1, possibly interfering with Apaf-1 self-association, thereby impeding Apaf-1-mediated caspase activation.
Higher levels of Aven mRNA are observed in patients with acute leukemia, suggesting potential as a prognostic indicator.
