Target Information
Beta actin is one of six actin isoforms identified in humans. It is a non-muscle cytoskeletal protein expressed in all human cell types, involved in cell motility, structure, and integrity. Beta and gamma actin coexist in most cell types as components of the cytoskeleton. Polymerization of globular actin (G-actin) forms filamentous actin (F-actin), a two-stranded helix structure. Due to its ubiquitous expression, beta actin is commonly used as a loading control in protein detection assays such as Western blotting. Antibodies to beta actin are valuable tools for studying intracellular distribution and cytoskeletal dynamics.
