Target Information
Aurora kinases are associated with microtubules during chromosome movement and segregation. Aurora B (AURKB) localizes to microtubules near kinetochores, specifically K-fibers, and functions in chromosome alignment, histone modification, and cytokinesis.
The Chromosomal Passenger Complex (CPC) includes Aurora B, INCENP, survivin, and borealin, which together regulate activity, localization, and substrate specificity.
Aurora B is overexpressed in several tumors, including breast and colon cancers, and its expression correlates with Aurora-A kinase, suggesting a feedback mechanism.
