Target Information
ZF21 (ZFYVE21) is a protein that binds to the cytoplasmic tail of MT1-MMP, a potent invasion-promoting protease.
It belongs to a protein family with a phosphatidylinositol 3-phosphate-binding FYVE domain, regulating focal adhesions (FAs) and cell movement.
Knockdown of ZF21 expression delays FA disassembly, indicating its role in FA dynamics.
ZF21 contains a noncanonical pleckstrin homology domain, which may serve as a therapeutic target for metastatic cancer.
