Target Information
Glucose-6-phosphatase (G6PC) is an integral membrane protein of the endoplasmic reticulum that catalyzes the hydrolysis of D-glucose 6-phosphate to D-glucose and orthophosphate. It plays a key role in glucose homeostasis through gluconeogenesis and glycogenolysis.
Defects in this enzyme are associated with glycogen storage disease type I.
