Target Information
Hepatocyte Nuclear Factor 1 (HNF1, Homeoprotein LFB3, Transcription Factor 2, TCF2) is a homeodomain-containing transcription factor. It functions as a liver-specific regulator and can form homodimers or heterodimers with HNF1-alpha.
HNF1 plays a role in nephron and pancreatic development. Mutations in this gene are linked to renal cysts and diabetes syndromes, and its expression is altered in certain cancers. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms exist.
