Target Information

Cardiac Troponin T is the tropomyosin-binding subunit of the troponin complex, located on the thin filament of striated muscles. It regulates muscle contraction in response to intracellular calcium ion concentration changes. Cardiac Troponin T plays a key role in muscle function and myofibril formation. In humans, four cTnT isoforms are expressed in a developmentally regulated manner. Expression levels are affected by heart failure. Mutations in the Cardiac Troponin T gene are associated with familial hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and dilated cardiomyopathy. The gene undergoes alternative splicing, producing multiple tissue-specific isoforms.
