Target Information
A cluster of genes, BAT1–BAT5, has been localized near the TNF alpha and TNF beta genes. This gene (EHMT2) is found near this cluster and mapped close to the C2 gene within a 120-kb region that includes an HSP70 gene pair. These genes are located within the human major histocompatibility complex class III region. Initially thought to represent two genes, NG36 and G9a, it is now known to be a single gene. The encoded protein is involved in intracellular protein–protein interactions. Three alternatively spliced transcript variants exist, with two fully described.
