Product Specific Information

PA1-916 detects the calcium pump of the plasma membrane 3 (PMCA3 ATPase) from rat, human, and porcine tissues.
It has been successfully used in Western blot procedures, detecting an approximately 127 kDa protein representing PMCA3a and PMCA3b ATPase from rat brain microsomal fractions.
The immunizing peptide corresponds to amino acid residues 5–22 from rat PMCA3 ATPase protein, which is completely conserved between rat and human PMCA3 ATPase.


Target Information

The PMCA3 ATPase belongs to the family of P-type primary ion transport ATPases, characterized by the formation of an aspartyl phosphate intermediate during the reaction cycle.
These enzymes remove bivalent calcium ions from eukaryotic cells against large concentration gradients, playing a critical role in intracellular calcium homeostasis.
Mammalian plasma membrane calcium ATPase isoforms are encoded by at least four separate genes, with additional diversity generated by alternative splicing.
Expression of different isoforms and splice variants is developmentally and tissue-specifically regulated, indicating functional adaptation to physiological needs.
This gene encodes the plasma membrane calcium ATPase isoform 3, and alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
