Target Information
OPRD1 (Opioid Receptor Delta 1) is involved in the regulation of anxiety, depression, and pain. It is a potential therapeutic target for mood disorders and drug addiction. Delta and kappa opioid receptors can form heterodimers, functioning synergistically. OPRD1 is primarily expressed in the brain, with high expression in the cortex, caudate, hippocampus, nucleus accumbens, and putamen, and lower expression in the cerebellum, hypothalamus, substantia nigra, and thalamus. Reduced expression has been observed in the putamen and amygdala of Alzheimer's patients and in the putamen in Parkinson’s disease.
