Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by epitope-specific immunogen affinity chromatography. The purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
G protein-coupled receptors (GPRs) are a family of transmembrane receptors that transmit extracellular signals (ligand binding) into intracellular responses via G protein activation. This signaling mechanism is conserved across eukaryotes and mediates environmental sensing and cell communication.
All GPRs have seven membrane-spanning domains, with glycosylated extracellular regions containing conserved cysteine residues that form disulfide bonds to stabilize receptor structure.
GPR103, a 455 amino acid protein, shows highest expression in the brain, retina, trigeminal ganglion, hypothalamus, and vestibular nucleus. In peripheral tissues, expression is limited to the heart, kidney, and testis. GPR103 may play a role in adrenal regulation. The hypothalamic neuropeptide 26RFa acts as an endogenous ligand for GPR103.
