Recombinant rabbit Superclonal™ antibodies are unique offerings from Thermo Fisher Scientific. They consist of multiple recombinant monoclonal antibodies, combining the sensitivity of polyclonal antibodies with the specificity and consistency of monoclonal antibodies.
These antibodies recognize multiple epitope sites on the target, providing higher detection sensitivity for low-abundance targets. Each lot is produced with a known mixture of light and heavy chains, eliminating biological variability typically found in polyclonal antibody production.

Target Information
Interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) is a proinflammatory cytokine expressed by monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. It is synthesized as a 31 kDa inactive pro-form that accumulates in the cytosol. Activation of inflammasomes triggers cleavage of pro-IL-1β into the active 17 kDa form via caspase-1 processing.
IL-1β lacks a classical signal sequence and is secreted through an alternate mechanism. It signals through IL-1RI and IL-1RII receptors, shared with IL-1α, and its activity is regulated by IL-1 Receptor Antagonist (IL-1RA).
IL-1β plays a key role in innate host defense, inducing other cytokines and acute-phase responses. Elevated levels are associated with chronic inflammatory conditions, making IL-1β neutralizing antibodies of potential therapeutic interest.
