Product Specific Information
Flow cytometry analysis of MA1-146 shows positive staining of mouse T-lymphocytes. The antibody also detects recombinant mouse CD4 at approximately 55 kDa.
Target Information
The CD4 antigen is involved in the recognition of MHC class II molecules and acts as a co-receptor for HIV. CD4 is primarily expressed in T helper lymphocytes but can also be found in monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. Tissue-level expression includes thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and specific regions of the brain and gut. CD4 participates in T-cell activation through interaction with the T-cell receptor complex and Lck kinase and may mediate neuronal damage in infectious or immune-mediated CNS diseases. Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts have been identified (RefSeq, July 2017).
