Product Specific Information

The TS2/16 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD29 (Integrin beta 1), an approximately 130 kDa single-pass transmembrane glycoprotein. CD29 forms heterodimers with nine integrin alpha subunits, constituting the very late antigen (VLA) subfamily of adhesion molecules. These integrins mediate cell-cell and cell-matrix adhesion.

CD29 is broadly expressed on lymphocytes and monocytes, with lower expression on granulocytes. The TS2/16 antibody exhibits activating activity for beta 1 integrins.

Applications Reported:
Flow cytometric analysis, immunoprecipitation, and immunohistochemical staining.

Applications Tested:
Tested by flow cytometric analysis of normal human peripheral blood cells. Recommended ≤0.25 µg per test (100 µL final volume). Cell number range: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test. Optimize titration for best performance.

Target Information

ITGB1 (Integrin Subunit Beta 1, CD29) is a 110 kDa cell surface glycoprotein expressed on various cells, including all leukocytes. It forms heterodimers with at least six alpha chains (α1–α6), determining VLA integrin binding properties. ITGB1 functions as a cell adhesion molecule on platelets and mediates interactions with extracellular matrix proteins.

Reduced ITGB1 expression is associated with multidrug resistance in tumor cells. It is upregulated in leukocytes during migration and plays a key role in immune cell trafficking and inflammatory regulation. ITGB1 also modulates cytokine secretion in airway smooth muscle via fibronectin and collagen interactions. Two major isoforms, β1A and β1D, are tissue-specific, with β1A in most tissues and β1D in cardiac and skeletal muscle.
