Product Specific Information
Antibody detects endogenous levels of ATF1 only when phosphorylated at Serine 63.
Target Information
This gene encodes an activating transcription factor belonging to the ATF subfamily and bZIP (basic-region leucine zipper) family. It regulates the expression of downstream target genes related to growth, survival, and other cellular activities.
Phosphorylation at serine 63 by various kinases (PKA, CaMK I/II, MSK, CDK3) enhances transactivation and transcriptional activity, promoting cell transformation.
Fusion of this gene with FUS (chromosome 16) or EWSR1 (chromosome 22) via translocation generates chimeric proteins found in angiomatoid fibrous histiocytoma and clear cell sarcoma.
A pseudogene exists on chromosome 6.
