Product Specific Information
The GL1 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD86 (B7-2), an approximately 80 kDa surface receptor belonging to the B7 family of costimulatory molecules. CD86 is expressed at low levels on B cells, macrophages, and dendritic cells, and is upregulated upon stimulation through the BCR complex, CD40, and cytokine receptors. It serves as a counter-receptor for T cell surface molecules CD28 and CD152 (CTLA-4), playing a critical role in T-B cell interaction, T cell costimulation, and antibody production.

Applications Tested: Flow cytometric analysis of stimulated mouse splenocytes, ≤0.25 µg/test (100 µL final volume).
Fluorophore Information: eFluor® 450 emits at 445 nm and is excited at 405 nm using the Violet laser.
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.
Target Information
CD86 is a costimulatory molecule that interacts with CTLA4 and CD28 on T cells. It is a type I membrane protein of the immunoglobulin superfamily, expressed by antigen-presenting cells. Binding of CD86 to CD28 activates T cells, while binding to CTLA-4 inhibits activation and modulates immune response. Alternative splicing produces multiple isoforms. CD86 dysfunction is associated with diseases such as gallbladder squamous cell carcinoma and myocarditis.
