Target Information
Iron regulatory protein 2 (IRP2) is a central post-transcriptional regulator of cellular and systemic iron metabolism. It is a cytosolic RNA-binding protein that binds to stem-loop structures and is regulated by iron-mediated proteolysis. Hypoxia affects iron and oxygen balance, and IRP2 plays a role during hypoxic conditions related to heart, cerebrovascular diseases, and tumor growth.
