Target Information
Cystatin superfamily는 여러 cystatin-like 서열을 포함하는 단백질을 포함합니다. 일부 구성원은 활성 시스테인 프로테아제 억제제이며, 다른 구성원은 이러한 억제 활성을 가지지 않습니다.
이 슈퍼패밀리에는 세 가지 억제 계열(type 1 cystatins, type 2 cystatins, kininogens)이 있으며, type 2 cystatin 단백질은 다양한 인간 체액과 분비물에서 발견되는 시스테인 단백질분해효소 억제제입니다.
해당 유전자는 chromosome 20의 cystatin locus에 위치하며, 침, 눈물, 정액 등에서 높은 수준으로 발현되는 S-type cystatin을 암호화합니다. 항균 및 항바이러스 활성으로 보호 기능을 수행하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
