Target Information

Ubiquitin-mediated proteolysis involves transferring ubiquitin (Ub) to lysine residues on target proteins, marking them for degradation by the 26S proteasome. UFD1L plays a role in this pathway by regulating the degradation of Ub-fusion proteins. Originally identified in yeast and later in humans, UFD1L modulates multiubiquitination processes. Mutations in UFD1L are associated with CATCH22 syndrome, which includes cardiac defects, cleft palate, and hypocalcemia, suggesting its role in developmental processes.
