Spermatogenic leucine zipper protein 1 (SPZ1)는 basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) 전사인자 계열에 속하며, 고환과 부고환에서 특이적으로 발현됩니다. 연구에 따르면 SPZ1은 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) 경로 하류에서 작용하여 세포 증식 및 종양형성을 촉진합니다. 또한 proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) 프로모터와 상호작용하여 PCNA 유전자 발현 증가와 함께 세포 증식을 유도합니다.
