Target Information

Mesothelin is a GPI-anchored, cell-surface glycoprotein expressed by mesothelial cells and aberrantly overexpressed in several cancers, including mesotheliomas, ovarian cystadenocarcinomas, and pancreatic adenocarcinomas.
Proteolytic cleavage generates a soluble fragment known as megakaryocyte potentiating factor (MPF), which may influence megakaryocyte proliferation and platelet production.
High-level expression in tumors versus limited distribution in normal tissues suggests involvement in tumorigenesis, cell adhesion, and metastatic progression.
