Product Specific Information

The 17A2 monoclonal antibody reacts with the mouse CD3 complex. CD3 subunits gamma, delta and epsilon are required for proper assembly, trafficking and surface expression of the TCR complex. CD3 is expressed by thymocytes in a developmentally regulated manner and by all mature T cells. Binding of 17A2 to CD3 initiates intracellular biochemical pathways resulting in activation and proliferation.

Target Information

CD3 subunit complex is crucial for transducing antigen-recognition signals into T cells and regulating TCR surface expression. CD3 gamma, delta, epsilon, and zeta subunits are structurally related members of the immunoglobulin superfamily encoded on human chromosome 11. These subunits associate with signal transduction molecules through tyrosine-based motifs. CD3 is expressed on 68–82% of peripheral blood lymphocytes and 65–85% of thymocytes, but not on B or NK cells. Defects in CD3 genes are associated with CD3 immunodeficiency.
