Product Specific Information
The antibody detects an 85–90 kDa band corresponding to nSMase3 on SDS-PAGE immunoblots of adult mouse heart and mouse C2C12 cells.
It is suitable for use in Western blot, ELISA, immunoprecipitation, and immunocytochemistry.
Target Information
The SMPD4 gene encodes a sphingomyelinase that catalyzes the hydrolysis of membrane sphingomyelin to form phosphorylcholine and ceramide.
This gene is activated by DNA damage, cellular stress, and tumor necrosis factor, but is downregulated by wild-type p53.
The encoded protein localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi network.
